Airnergy: The New Charger

At CES, several new, innovative and first of its kind gizmos were showcased. It was at CES folks(only a few) got a chance to see the Dell Tablet which is to be termed Slate. And it was here at CES that a new book reader from MSI was launched before the world. And few other on the list were Alienware’s new 3D monitor, world’s largest 3D HDTV from Panasonic, the first transparent keyboard from MSI again(check out the image here- Another Crazy Concept PC, this Time From MSI. It seriously looks quite crazy) . With so many exciting gadgets CES certainly would have been a fantastic show.

Another interesting gadget that I got to know about being showcased at CES was the Gadget Charger: RCA Airnergy. The name probably won’t give away a very clear picture of what and how the gadget works. So, let’s get into some details.

RCA Airnergy is a small machine which is designed for charging small systems like cell phones and other such gadgets which do not take high amount of power.

How Does Airnergy Work?

Airnergy is well thought after charging machine. It follows a simple process(at least sounds simple) of capturing energy from Wi- Fi signals. To acquire the energy(signals) 2 antennas are set up in Airnergy. When the antennas capture the Wi- Fi signals, the energy is converted into Direct Current(DC) by a DC convertor. This energy is then stored in batteries from where various gadgets needing low power consumption for functioning can get re- charged. To sum it up in few words: Airnergy operates on antenna, a DC converter and a battery.

What’s more, at CES, RAC provided a small demo of working of Airnergy by charging a Blackberry. You could check theĀ  BlackBerry Recharge demo here.

The instrument, says RAC, will be available in market sometime in the Q2 of 2010. If all goes how everything looks now, Airnergy definitely would make charging gadgets an easy job.
